The VCA Legacy: A Three-Sport Champion's Story From kindergarten to graduation, Autumn Knox (Thomae) (VCA Class of 2018) dedicated herself to Victory Christian Academy, leaving an indelible mark on its athletic program. She attended VCA for her entire academic career, graduating in 2018, and her time there was defined by a remarkable commitment to sports. Autumn was a true three-sport athlete, dominating the court and the field in volleyball, basketball, and softball throughout middle school and high school. Her exceptional talent and dedication earned her numerous accolades, including multiple all-conference selections at tournaments and being selected as an MVP in volleyball and basketball. She also received the Lions Award, a testament to her character and sportsmanship. When asked about her most unforgettable moment, Autumn's response was a testament to her competitive spirit and team-first mentality. She recalls the incredible feat of winning the state tournament for Christian schools in all three sports in a single year. This accomplishment stands as a powerful symbol of her individual skill and the collective success of her teams. Autumn’s advice to current and future VCA athletes is both simple and profound: "Leave it all out on the court/field! Play as hard as you can as much as you can and enjoy every second of it." Her words reflect a deep appreciation for the journey and a hint of nostalgia, as she admits, "I wish I could go back and play all over again! I miss it!" Autumn's journey continued at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, where she graduated in 2022. It was there that she met her husband, whom she married in 2023. They now reside in Columbus, Ohio, with their puppy, Cooper. Professionally, she works in Human Resources for a mid-size cryogenic engineering firm in Columbus, where she oversees the company's health insurance and leave administration programs. While her competitive sports career may have ended, her love for the game hasn't. Autumn and her husband currently play in a sand volleyball league, keeping her connected to the sport she loves. Her story is a shining example of how a passion for sports can shape a person's life, from their formative years to their professional career, and beyond.
